Britannia Pool is a private, purpose-built swimming pool just outside of Colchester that is maintained to an exceptional standard.

What swimming lessons do we run at Britannia?

We run small group swimming classes with water-based teachers. Only one lesson takes place in the pool at any time, and each lesson lasts for 30 minutes. We run 12 or 13 week courses – please see our Term Dates page to see when our programmes start and finish.

The pool is 12 x 6 metres and 1.3 metres deep, and its temperature is maintained in the region of 31 degrees.

The pool has both a fully automated chemical dosing system alongside an ultra-violet light disinfection system for added pool water hygiene.

The poolside and changing areas have the luxury of underfloor heating, so you’ll stay toasty even when it’s cold outside.

The swimming pool has a spacious viewing room with air conditioning so you can watch every lesson in comfort. There is accessible on-site parking, regularly cleaned changing rooms, and baby changing facilities are also available.

If you would rather have the Britannia pool all to yourself, remember that this pool can be hired for individual, family, or small group use of up to 10 people, including children. We’ll pull down the blinds in the viewing room, and you’ll have the space all to yourself! We can supervise the pool at your request, but as long as there are two adults within your swim party, you can enjoy the pool to your heart’s content without additional members of staff on hand.
